Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide the EchoBag app experience. This may include:

• Destination information — the destination name or location you enter for a trip.
• Packing lists — the items, categories, and packing data you create within the app.
• Preferences — your in-app settings and customizations, such as packing style preferences.
• App usage data — general information about how you interact with the app, used to improve features and fix issues.

Guest users (those without an account) have their data stored locally on their device only. No trip or packing data is sent to our servers for guest users.

How We Use Your Information

All data collected by EchoBag is used solely to provide and improve the app's functionality. Specifically:

• Your account email is used for authentication, account recovery, and to respond to support requests.
• Your trip details and packing lists are used to generate, store, and sync your personalized packing lists across devices.
• Your destination information may be used to provide weather-based packing recommendations — for example, suggesting rain gear for rainy forecasts or light clothing for warm destinations.
• Your preferences are used to personalize your packing list suggestions and app experience.
• App usage data is used to identify bugs, improve performance, and develop new features.

Weather-Based Recommendations

When you create or view a trip, EchoBag may send your destination name to a third-party weather service (Open-Meteo) to retrieve a weather forecast. This forecast is used to automatically suggest relevant packing items — such as umbrellas, sunscreen, or warm layers — based on expected conditions at your destination.

Only the destination name is shared with the weather service for this purpose. No personal identifying information, account details, or other trip data is included in these requests.

What We Do Not Do

EchoBag is committed to protecting your privacy. We want to be clear about what we do not do:

• We do not sell your personal data to any third party.
• We do not use your personal data for third-party advertising.
• We do not share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not use your data to build advertising profiles or target you with ads.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

• Service providers — We may use third-party services to operate the app (e.g., hosting, analytics). These providers are contractually required to handle data securely and only for the purposes we specify.
• Legal requirements — We may disclose information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.

Account & Data Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time.

To delete your account and data, email us at echobag.app@gmail.com with the subject line "Delete My Account" from the email address associated with your EchoBag account. We will process your request and confirm deletion within 7 business days.

After deletion, your account, trip data, and packing lists will be permanently removed from our systems.
